Anti Worker

                           Anti Worker

I'm an older chap. Probably older than most of you around here. I used to think this sub was a bunch of commies and lefties. As I read more and more of your posts I started to rethink my situation at my job. I had been there years and couldn't move anywhere. I tried it all. I had good reviews but I just couldn't move and they wanted it that way. I did a lot of interviews and at least three times I found out the new guy was younger. It has happened to a lot of other people there as well.

Well as chance would have it, a few weeks ago I was dicking around Indeed and I looked up a job that had my kind of qualifications and I came up with a few hits. The first one sounded like actual fun and it brought a smile to my face. "Wouldn't that be crazy?"

So for the hell of it, I applied to the job as kind of a joke and 15 minutes later they emailed me for a phone interview. I then went to a live interview and the chap understood perfectly my situation because he came from the same side of the business world as I did. When they offered me 25% more than I was making, my jaw almost dropped.

So, yes, today I quit my old going nowhere job. I owe it all to you guys. And yes, I was wrong. I dont think you're all a bunch of commie lefties anymore. You are all just people trying to better yourselves and not be made slaves. Don't get stuck in a job that you "like" but get nowhere. What a great way to start the year. Blessings to you all.

I want to remind you that crypto is for the average user not profitable and that it has a very huge carbon footprint compared to the efficiency of its usage. So I want to actively discourage you from using it, seeing as it is more like a casino with a higher risk of getting bamboozled and losing your money from it. Besides, we really need to look out for the climate. Burning forests. Polluted rivers. Streets and oceans filled with plastic.

So if I can encourage you at least one thing to do, why not pick up some trash from the street or beach and remove it properly?

So where can I put my money, when I shouldn't on crypto?

I think mutual aid structures like Food Not Bombs is a great place where you can help others that need help. Personally I can also advice you to join unions such as Industrial Workers of the World - a member-led, grassroots union. If you're interested, why not take a look at their preamble?

What is anti-work, anyways?

r/Antiwork is a subreddit for those who want to end work, are curious about ending work, want to get the most out of a work-free life, want more information on anti-work ideas and want personal help with their own jobs/work-related struggles.

What are examples of Anti-work praxis?

Things like shitting meanwhile you're at your work is seen as anti-work praxis. We all should slow down a little bit and realize that we should care about our health. We need to at the very least also set boundaries against bosses and their work places, for example seeing how technology is getting more and more into our lives, I can only encourage you to set boundaries such as not accepting to be contacted by the work after work hours. And if you do, make it into the contract that you get paid for having your phone always on.

Personal note

I also want to personally thank you, fellow anti-workers. Without you this beginning of a movement would not be possible. Also look out for your fellow anti-workers, the pandemic has made feel some very depressed and I think we should watch out for each other.
