Movie Review: LAST NIGHT IN SOHO (2021)

 # LAST NIGHT IN SOHO (2021)

## EDGAR WRIGHT

This psychological thriller piece by Edgar Wright may not outdo the greatest works of his but is still a standout film for at least this particular year. It lingers a bit more into conventionality than his best works, but its creativity is still prominent, and the film does manage to find an identity. On top of that, it does benefit from great technical artistry too.

The music has rarely been amiss in Edgar Wright's films, and Last Night in Soho is no exception. Chung-hoon Chung’s cinematography is definitely among the bests of this year too. The biggest standouts, however, are Thomasin Mckenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy. The duo manages to elevate this already impressive film by a fair degree.

The greatest thing about the narrative is how it views the struggles of women in the 60s under a modern, more acknowledging lens. The writing may occasionally limit itself by the bounds of the genre, but in terms of direction, this is arguably the most daring work of Wright’s career. The twists may not blow your mind, but the way they add up to the rest of the happenings makes the tale captivating.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but its nuances can’t be denied. It is, most importantly a very well-made example of the genre. It’s raw, haunting, and atmospheric, and one of the most well-directed and shot films of the year so far. The way it interprets and conveys the story is mind-blowing. Almost a 4.5/5 for me.

It's both surprising and not that the film went divisive here (due to reasons related to the film mostly).

The cast in this movie is great too. Movie contain a list of great actress and actresses who did fantastic job. The cast of Last Night in Soho are as followings.
