The Dawn Of Spicy Piro 'Current' - A Turnover Of Four Billion A Year

The 'current' Being Exported To 9 Countries Has Turned Away Korean Noodles

Mahesh Shrestha of Butwal is a connoisseur of noodles. Noodles are his choice for lunch as they can be boiled and eaten raw in a hurry.

His taste in noodles has changed since she started school. He has started liking Piro noodles.

When Korean Piro noodles came in the market, Mahesh forgot about its taste. Now they are enjoying the bitter taste of Nepal-produced noodles. The 'Hot and Spicy' of 'Current' Noodles has made him satisfied in both taste and budget.

'Korean noodles were expensive. A packet can cost up to Rs 225, 'said Mahesh. The peppery tongue of the chili peppers, the taste is different! '

Mahesh is only a representative of current noodle-loving consumers across the country. The current generation of young people has taken the name of noodles.

The youths who are sending this noodle to the market are Kamal Malpani, Chunnu Poudel, Narishwar Poudel, Shravan Beriwal, Madhu Ghimire and Rishi Bhandari. They have also been helped by some other friends.

He had started 'Yashoda Foods Private Limited' at Patthardanda in Tilotta of Rupandehi five years ago. From that, they started producing 'Lali' brand noodles. The company started adding bhujia, cheese balls and crisps along with different names of noodles.

According to Rishodi Ram Bhandari, director of Yashoda Foods, they themselves used to reach various places for market expansion. Understood consumer feedback on their products. About two years ago, a market study found that teens and young consumers liked expensive Korean noodles, even though they were expensive.

Even though there was not much fuss in the market, Yashoda's products were doing well. Every year new products were added and sent to the market.

"We would sit down and discuss what kind of product the consumers want and decide to add products as suggested," said Bhandari.

Since Kamal Malpani is experienced in the field of industry, generally everyone agrees on his proposal. At a meeting a year ago, Kamal suggested that we add hot and spicy noodles, which are very spicy, along with regular products.

As usual, his proposal was passed.

Then Yashoda Foods launched Current Hot and Spicy at Rs. 50.

"After the current Piro noodles came, those who ate Korean noodles by paying up to two hundred and fifty rupees got quality products at cheaper prices," says Bhandari. Current has reduced imports of Korean noodles. Instead, the current goes to Korea. '

The noodles were shipped to Korea by the industry itself, not by the sellers. Therefore, the industry does not have the exact data, says Madhu Ghimire, managing director of Yashoda Foods. The industry has been exporting to nine countries of the world.

Current Hot & Spicy goes to many cities in India including Assam, Shillong, Siliguri, Guwahati. Currently, it is being exported to USA, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Bhutan, Japan, Netherlands and other countries.

"It's in high demand in the US and Europe," Ghimire said. "Yashoda Foods has replaced expensive hot and spicy noodles."

He said that the government should stop import of such foreign products to promote Nepali products. He says, 'The higher the consumption, the higher the production. When the domestic production increases, Nepalis will get the benefit.

Spread over an area of four bighas in Patthardanda, Yashoda Foods now produces noodles including Juppi, Kalij, Golu, Oppo along with Lali and Current. Together it has been producing more than 40 kinds of food including cheese balls, crisps and bhujia. Now the hot and spicy taste of Lali is also available at Rs 50.

The industry has three plants for noodle production. Only one of these plants produces current hot and spicy. The industry says that even though it produces more than 20 tonnes of noodles daily, it is sometimes difficult to meet the market demand.

Depending on the demand, both normal and hot and spicy products are both sent and unveiled. The red wrapper is packed in nonwoven and the green wrapper is packaged.

According to Ghimire, manager of Yashoda Foods, Hot & Spicy has not reduced the demand for ordinary noodles.

He says, "Earlier, increasing our demand for electricity without reducing our production has confirmed that Korean noodles are already being consumed a lot."

Balananda Kafle, who has been running a grocery shop in Butwal Yogikuti for a decade and a half, says that Piro noodles are the first choice of the youth. He said, 'Korean noodles are not kept as it is very expensive. But noodles from other Nepali companies also sold well because of the pain. Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent corporate scandals.

Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent corporate scandals. There are many people in the age group of 15 to 25 years who buy Piro Noodles. So he estimates that new consumers of noodles have been added.

Industry of Yashoda Foods

According to the industry, 300,000 cartons of current noodles are produced monthly. 2 lakh per packet daily. Noodles consume 60 tons of flour daily, while hot and spicy 400 kg of Nepali chillies are used daily. Ordinary chillies are used in other products. Akbari and generally 500,000 kg of chillies are being used annually.

"Even if it burns the stomach with other chili peppers, it does not burn," says Bhandari. We have kept Akbar so that he will not be affected even if he is in pain. '

Current Noodles is now worldwide.
